Ricky-Oh, The Story Of Ricky, is without a doubt one of the strangest, weirdest and most surreal films ever created. It is really just plain nuts. It's hard to believe that some crazy filmmakers even went out there with this idea and said "Yeah let's make this movie instead of just joking around about it!" It was based on the equally surreal comic book by the same title. The resulting movie belongs on the list of top cult download internet movies. It's funny, surprising, shocking and ridiculous, and whether or not you wind up enjoying it, you'll certainly never forget it.
The movie follows Ricky, a young martial artist who winds up in prison. Within the prison, there are four gang leaders who all use their own styles of martial arts. Ricky takes it upon himself to take these thugs down, to strange results.
The movie is nothing if not violent, but the violence is so absurd that it's not really offensive or disturbing so much as it is funny and weird. It reaches Loony Toons proportions. In one fight scene, a badguy rips out his own intestine to strangle Ricky with, immediately after Ricky, having received a slash across a major artery, pulls the vein out and ties it in a knot.
You'll really be too busy laughing at the onscreen violence to even other being disturbed, so you can't quite say that it's "not for the easily nauseated", because it's just too darn Loony Toons to gross you out.
Another sequence has the warden of the prison transforming into a twelve foot tall monster, built out of ridiculously bad makeup and special effects. He "meats" his demise on the business end of a beef grinder. It's violent, but it's so ridiculous and funny in its violence that it never feels real. It always feel like silly makeup and special effects, as if the actors and stuntmen are just having some fun with this stuff.
The story actually has a heart under all this, believe it or not. The movie touches on a lot of plot threads that you won't really get if you haven't read the comic, but the main story revolves around the subject of inhumanity. Ricky Oh fights for the dignity and freedom of all of the inmates, who are constantly bullied by the warden and his spoiled son as well as by the gangs that run the prison.
The movie is miles over the top. It doesn't just go too far, it goes too far on a bullet train and then keeps going until it can't even see "Too Far" in the rear view mirror anymore. By the end of the film, it's gotten on board a space shuttle and taken off into Outer Space to the point that it's not even on the same planet as "Too Far" anymore.
Still, the ending is actually surprisingly uplifting and positive as Ricky liberates his fellow inmates from under the iron fist of the violent, abusive warden and all of his cronies. In a movie full of surprises, the biggest surprise of all is that you'll find yourself caring about the characters, not just wondering who's gonna get kicked in the butt with their own severed foot next.
They may not like the idea, but in the end, they'll feel better about themselves. Movie Download Files Movie Downloads Are The Wave Of The Future for the film industry. When you download an entire movie to your computer, you've got the best of all possible worlds.
