Which Leap Frog device is best for 5 and 6 year old girls?
I'm looking at the leap Frog Learning systems and i'm trying to decide which one to buy my daughters for christmas. Does anyone know what the differences are between the Didj & the Leapster 2?
Also on target.com when i'm looking @ the cartridges it doesn't state in the description which system the cartridges work in. there are only maybe 5 marked specifically for the Leapster 2, and the rest just say Leapster on them. Are they inter changeable or no?

It really depends what you are looking for in a Game System. The Didj offers a unique experience for kids in that the parents can pick the curriculum and activities, as well as the games that are played. Not just thru cartridges either. The games have the popular characters that you expect to find with Leap Frog products like Spongebob Squarepants and Star Wars and you get a virtual "currency" type of thing for playing games that you can then trade online for more game scenarios, sounds, music, and other things. You can also create virtual characters using the Didj with your virtual earned "currency". Parents can create custom lists that the games work off of, and customize the skills that the child will learn using online tools. The Didji is really suitable for kids between 5-10 years old, though the parents really need to be involved in order to get the most out of the toy.
If you are looking for a basic learning Video Game system, then go with the Leapster 2. You can't go wrong with it. Leapster Games are interchangeable and can be used in all of the Leapster systems. The games are limited to the game play on the cartridges, and it does not offer the online customization and aspect that the Didji offers. Because of the limited use behind the Leapster 2, it's recommended for ages 5-8. The Didji lets you do more as a parent to help in your child's learning process, the Leapster 2 is like an educational Game Boy of sorts. It really depends what you are interested in for your child.
