One of my hobbies is playing fantasy sports leagues. I've playing for a while now and have fantasy teams in baseball, basketball and football. I've also tried other basic, sports based games.
I find this a very enjoyable hobby, and get a real buzz from managing my virtual team. Buying, selling, and being the boss gives me a lot of pleasure. I've always wanted to own a sports team and now I have 3, even if they aren't real!
As with all things that you really enjoy doing; fantasy leagues get very addictive. There are loads of stats and positions to check and I find myself doing this constantly, and also checking out my competitor's results.
There are some who consider fantasy leagues bad for you due to the addictive nature and How Much time players devote to it. I will admit to constantly tracking results to see how my team is affected and watching games I don't care about.
I mentioned a lot of positives about playing these leagues earlier, and here's another big one; it incites our competitive spirit, which is what playing sports is all about. We follow our teams in reality, so what is wrong with following these ones?
On the flip side, I do tend to get rather over involved and lose my temper when players put in bad performances and feel that they have let the rest of the team down. This often overshadows the actual result.
It's my worst nightmare when my virtual teams are scheduled to play at the same time as my virtual teams. My long term loyalty to my real teams is being tested by those who aren't real. This is quite disturbing to be honest.
I'm only one of millions who play these leagues and know how addictive they are. There are obviously some issues to be addressed there have been some furious debates regarding these leagues.
